VACANCIES :

ESSENTIAL QUALIFICATION :

  • Full Time B.E./ B.Tech/ B.Sc (Engg) from recognized University/Institute or AMIE in Electrical/ Electrical (Power)/ Electrical and Electronics/ Power Systems Engineering with Minimum 65% or Equivalent CGPA * cleared by 31.03.2014.
  • Final Year / Semester students who expect their results by 14.08.2014 are also eligible, provided they have obtained minimum 65% marks or equivalent CGPA in aggregate of all semesters/years up to pre-final examination.

SELECTION PROCESS :

  • The selection process will include the marks obtained (Out of 100) by the eligible candidates in the EE paper of GATE 2014, followed by group discussion and personal interview of the candidates who qualify in the GATE paper and have been shortlisted category wise for the GD and interview.
  • Candidates shall have the option for appearing the GD/ interview in Hindi or English.
  • Eligible candidates will have to appear for the Electrical Engineering (EE) paper of GATE - 2014.
  • Candidates obtaining a valid score (Marks out of 100) shall only be eligible for the next stage of selection. The score is valid only if the candidate obtains more than or equal to the qualifying marks as fixed for the EE paper of GATE 2014.
Qualifying Marks in GATE-2014 :
  • The qualifying marks for GATE Examination shall be as per the criteria adopted by the GATE-2014 examination conducting authority for different categories.
  • Short listing of Eligible candidates for GD & Interview
  • Qualified candidates shall be short-listed category-wise for Group Discussion & Personal Interview based on their marks (Out of 100) in the EE paper of GATE – 2014.

JOB DESCRIPTION :

Selected candidates will undergo training for a period of one year at POWERGRID sites and training
institutes. On successful completion of training, the candidates will be absorbed as Engineer. 
Indicative Job description of Engineer (Electrical) :
  • Planning, Design, engineering, quality assurance, inspection, erection, testing &
  • commissioning of 132 kV / 220 kV / 400 kV / 765 kV / 1200 kV /HVDC Sub-station,
  • Transmission Line, Power system protective relays, substation automation system, Power
  • Line Carrier Communication, SCADA system, Control & Instrumentation System,
  • implementation of Smart Grid, Research & Development etc.
  • Construction, operation, maintenance, erection, testing and commissioning, cost estimation,
  • project cost control activities of EHVAC/HVDC, HVDC B/B Transmission System.
  • Assignments related to Commercial, Engineering, Contracts & Materials, Load dispatch &
  • Communication of Transmission System, System Operation, Telecom, etc.
  • Co-ordination with internal and external stakeholders, etc.
  • Any other related work assigned to individual from time to time.

COMPENSATION PACKAGE :

Selected candidates will be placed in the pay scale of Rs. 24900-50500 during the one-year training period. The Corporation offers a very attractive pay package which is one of the best in the Industry. The approximate CTC* per annum are as follows:
  • During Training : Rs. 7.65 lakhs per annum  
  • After Training : Rs. 13.4 lakhs per annum
On regularization, the Compensation package includes Basic Pay, Dearness Allowance, Perquisites

Management Trainee (Finance & Accounts) : 
Bachelor’s Degree in any discipline with minimum 60% of marks in aggregate of all years/ semesters (50% in aggregate for SC/ST/PWD candidates) from a recognized University. Should have passed final examination of ICAI or ICWAI.
Management Trainee (HR & Welfare) : 
Full time Bachelor’s Degree in any discipline with minimum 60% of marks in aggregate of all years/ semesters (50% in aggregate for SC/ST/PWD candidates) from a recognized University. Should have passed Full time MA(HRM) / Post Graduate Degree/ Post Graduate Diploma in Labour Welfare / Industrial Relations & Personnel Management of not less than 2 years duration from a recognized University/Institute with minimum 60% of marks in the aggregate of all years/ semesters (50% in aggregate for SC/ST/PWD candidates). Candidates should have adequate knowledge of Telugu Language.
Management Trainee (Corporate Communications) :
 Full time Bachelor’s Degree in any discipline with minimum 60% of marks in aggregate of all years/ semesters from a recognized University/Institute. Should have passed Full time Post Graduate Degree / Post Graduate Diploma in Mass Communication / Advertising / Journalism / Public Relations of not less than 2 years duration with minimum 60% of marks in the aggregate of all years/semesters from a recognized university / institute.

Final year students :

Online registration shall commence from 5th July 2013. Only those candidates need to apply who have passed the qualifying degree with specified percentage of marks by 30thJune 2013 and possessing the Provisional Certificate and Marks Sheet by said date.

SELECTION :

The selection process will consist of Written Test followed by Group Discussion/ Interview. Eligible candidates will be required to appear for a Written Examination, information of which will be provided in the Admit card. Candidates shortlisted on the basis of their performance in the Written Test will be intimated to appear for Group Discussion / Interview.

Written Test :

  • Written test will comprise of General Awareness, Numerical Ability, General English, Verbal and Non Verbal Reasoning and separate paper for each discipline.
  • Eligible registered candidates will have to appear for written test at designated centre at their own expense.
  • Written Test will be held simultaneously at Visakhapatnam, Hyderabad, Chennai, Delhi, Kolkata and Mumbai. Candidates are required to choose one of these cities as Test Centre and no change under any circumstances will be allowed subsequently. The Company however reserves the right to add/delete any centre and allocate appropriate centre to the candidate at its discretion.
  • Likely date for written test is 18th August, 2013 (Sunday). However, the date may undergo change.

Group Discussion/Interview :

Candidates shortlisted on the basis of their performance in the Written Test will be intimated to appear for Group Discussion/Interview (which may be held at short notice). Please visit the website for information on the same.

TRAINING & PROBATION :

Candidates selected as Management Trainees will be placed on training for one year. After successful completion of training, the candidates shall be placed under probation for one more year.

EMOLUMENTS :

  • Selected candidates will be offered a basic pay of 20,600/- p.m. in the scale of 20,600-3%-46500/-(E-1).
  • On successful completion of training, they will be designated as Junior Managers in the same scale of pay.
  • Besides Basic Pay, the Management Trainees will also be paid Dearness Allowance. They will also be entitled for other perquisites and benefits such as PF, Gratuity and other perks & allowances as per rules of the Company in vogue. In addition, the Company provides benefits like Leave encashment, housing/HRA and free medical facility for self and dependents as per rules in vogue. The CTC would be around 7.62 lakhs p.a.
  • An amount of 5000/- per month will be deducted from the total emoluments during the period of training and probation, as retention amount, on returnable basis on confirmation of service in the Company after successful completion of training and probation period. The retention amount will be forfeited, on leaving the service/termination of service before confirmation.
  • As this would be direct recruitment on initial basic, the Company will not bear any liability on account of Salary/ leave salary/ pension contribution etc., of previous employment, if any.

  • Candidates have to pay bank commission @ 25/- per Challan for depositing fee at other than SBI, Steel Plant Branch, Visakhapatnam (Code 6318).
  • Please insist the fees collecting SBI branch to invariably enter your name and 7 digit registration number mentioned in the Challan in their online screen.
  • The candidate is required to enter in the appropriate cells on the online application form the details of SBI branch, Code Number, date of deposit and the Journal Number.
  • Downloading of Registration slip cannot be done without deposit of fee and obtaining Journal Number from the bank.
  • Fee can be deposited up to 20th July 2013.
  • Fee once deposited into Company’s account will not be refunded under any circumstances, even if the candidate is unable to apply on-line due to his/her own problems or due to being ineligible at the time of applying or on-line application is not accepted or due to internet failure. ABOUT TEST :

Part-I will consist of 70 multiple-choice questions of finance. Part-II will consist of 50 multiple-choice questions on Executive Aptitude Test. 1/4th mark will be deducted for each 
wrong / multiple answered questions. The test will be of two hour duration. 

PROJECTED VACANCIES : Twenty seven (27) 

COMPENSATION PACKAGE : 

  • NTPC Ltd. offers one of the best pay packages in the industry. Selected candidates will be placed in the pay scale of Rs. 24900-3%-50500 at the basic pay of Rs. 24900/- during oneyear training. 
  • These candidates will be absorbed after successful completion of training as Officer in the pay scale of Rs. 24900-3%-50500 at a basic pay of Rs. 25650/-.

PLACEMENT : 

The selected candidates shall undergo one year training at various places. The region in which the selected candidates will be posted will be decided at the time of joining, however final place of posting in that region will be allocated after successful completion of training based on the performance during the training and requirement at each location. Candidates can be placed, across the country, at projects/ stations including joint ventures & subsidiary companies of NTPC. 

HOW TO APPLY : 

  1. Eligible candidates have to apply through online registration system of NTPC only. To apply visit : www.ntpccareers.net with your valid E-mail ID. The site is functional from 1300 Hrs of 17.06.2013 to midnight of 08.07.2013
  2. Candidate belonging to General/OBC category is required to pay a non-refundable registration fee of Rs. 500/-. The SC / ST / PH category candidate need not pay the registration fee. 
  3. State Bank of India has been authorized to collect the registration fee, in a specially opened account (No. 30987919993) at CAG branch, New Delhi (Code: 09996), on behalf of NTPC. Candidate has to approach the nearby SBI branch with a printout of the “pay-in-slip” which is available on the application registration portal. The pay-in-slip printed from the portal should only be used for depositing the fee for proper crediting of amount in the allocated account. On receipt of the money the bank will issue a unique Journal Number and a Branch Code of the bank collecting the money. This journal number and the branch code are to be filled up by the candidate during online registration. NTPC will not be responsible, in case a candidate deposits the fee in wrong account. There will not be any other mode of payment of registration amount. 
  4. Fee once paid will not be refunded under any circumstances. Candidates are therefore requested to verify their eligibility before paying the registration fee. 
  5. While applying Online, candidate should keep the scanned copy of their passport size colour photograph and their signature in JPEG format of not more than 500 KB size each. 
  6. After applying online, candidate is required to download the registration slip generated by the system with unique registration number. Candidates are required to keep the printout of the Registration slip which will be required at the time of Group Discussion and Personal Interview if short listed for.

INDIAN ENGINEERING SERVICES EXAMINATION -2013 Notification by UPSC






Indian Engineering Services Exam provides excellent job opportunities for Engineering Graduates. Candidates who have cleared Indian Engineering Services (IES) Exam will be placed as Assistant Executive Engineer in various departments under Central Government in the initial stage. Those who have experience up to 32years will be promoted as Secretary to Government of India. Indian Railway, Indian Defense Service, Geological Survey of India, Indian Supply Service and Indian Telecommunication Service etc are some of the areas where engineers can look for a career.
Candidates who have cleared Indian Engineering Services Exam, conducted by UPSC can seek employment invarious departments under Government of India. Recruitment is conducted on the basis of ranks and industrial experience of the candidates. Candidates can seek employment according to the subjects they have specialized in engineering degree.
Candidatesare placed as Assistant Executive Engineer in various organizations at the time of selection. After three to four years of service, they can work in the postof Executive Engineer which is equivalent to Under Secretary to Government of India. Those who have 20 years of service will be promoted to the post of Chief Engineer level-1. Engineers having professional experience of 32 years will be posted as Secretary to the Government of India

ELIGIBILITY :



Nationality : A candidate must be either:

  • (a) a citizen of India
  • (b) a subject of Nepal
  • (c) a subject of Bhutan
  • (d) a Tibetan refugee who came over to India before the 1st January, 1962 with the intention of permanently settling in IndiaProvided that a candidate belonging to categories (b), (c), (d) and 
  • (e) above shallbe a person in whose favour a certificate of eligibility has been issued by the Government of India.


A candidate in whose case a certificate of eligibility is necessary, may be admitted to the examination but the offer of appointment may be given only after the necessary eligibility certificate has been issued by the Government of India.

Age limit in ESE-2013 examination :

(a) A candidate for this examination must have attained the age of 21 years and must not have attained the age of 30 years on the 1st January, 2013 i.e. he/she must have been born not earlier than 2nd January,1983 and not later than 1st January, 1992. (b) The upper age limit of 30 years will be relaxableupto 35 years in the case of Government Servants of the following categories, if they are employed in a Department/Office under the control of any of the authorities mentioned in column 1 below and apply for admission to the examination for all or any of the Service(s)/ Post(s) mentioned in column 2, for which they are otherwise eligible.
A candidate who holds substantively a permanent post in the particular Department/Office concerned. This relaxation will not be admissible to a probationer appointed against a permanent post in the Department/Office during the period of his probation. However this relaxation will be admissible to a probationer so appointed provided he/she already retains a lien on a permanent post in a Department/Office under the control of any of the authorities mentioned in column 1 below.

Minimum Educational Qualification:

For admission to the examination, a candidate must have :
(a) Obtained a degree in Engineering from a University incorporated by an Act of the Central or State Legislature in India or other Educational Institutionsestablished by an Act of Parliament or declared to be deemed as Universities under Section 3 of the University Grants Commission Act, 1956; or
(b) Passed Sections A and B of the Institution Examinations of the Institution of Engineers (India)
(c) Obtained a degree/diploma in Engineering from such foreign University/ College/Institution and under such conditions as may be recognized byThe Government for the purpose from time to time.
(d) Passed Graduate Membership Examination of the Institute of Electronics and Telecommunication Engineers (India).
(e) Passed Associate Membership Examination Parts II and III/Sections A and B of the Aeronautical Society of India.
(f) Passed Graduate Membership Examination of the Institution of Electronics and Radio Engineers, London held after November, 1959.Provided that a candidate for the post of Indian Naval Armament Service (Electronics Engineering Posts) and Engineer, Gr. 'A' inWireless Planning & Coordination Wing/ Monitoring Organisation may possess any of the above qualifications or the qualification

Mentioned below namely:-

  • M.Sc. degree or its equivalent with Wireless Communication, Electronics, Radio Physics or Radio Engineering as a special subject.
  • NOTE-1 : A candidate who has appeared at an examination the passing of which would render him educationally qualified for this examination, but has not been
  • Informed of the result, may apply for admission to the examination. A candidate who intends to appear at such a qualifying examination may also apply. Such
  • Candidates will be admitted to the examination, if otherwise eligible, but their admission would be deemed to be provisional and subject to cancellation, if
  • they do not produce proof of having passed the requisite qualifying examination along with the Detailed Application Form which will be required to be submitted by the
  • Candidates who qualify on the result of written part of the examination.
  • NOTE-2: In exceptional cases, the Commission may treat a candidate, who has not any of the qualifications prescribed in this rule, as educationally qualified provided
  • That he/she has passed examinations conducted by other institutions the standard of which in the opinion of the Commission justifies his/her admission to the examination.
  • NOTE-3: A candidate who is otherwise qualified but who has taken a degree from a foreign University which is not recognized by Government, may also apply
  • to the Commission and may be admitted to the examination at the discretion of the Commission.

Physical standards :

Candidates must be physically fit according to physical standards for admission to Engineering Services Examination, 2012 as per guidelines given in Appendix-II of
the Rules for the Engineering Services Examination, 2012 published in the Gazette of India.

Personality Test / Interview : 200 Marks ( After qualifying wriiten examination )
